Our Story
Why Taluna Connections Began
Taluna Connections was created from a deep love of horses and a belief in the power of connection.
The idea began years ago, shared between Kirsty and her late fiancé, Adam. They often spoke about creating a horse-based business—about helping people connect with horses in meaningful, grounding ways. Horses were always at the centre of their conversations, their plans, and their dreams.
Although Adam is no longer with us, his belief in this vision continues to inspire the heart of Taluna Connections.
This business is, in many ways, a continuation of the dream they shared.

The Power of Horses
Horses have an incredible ability to meet us where we are. They respond to energy, emotion, and presence, often without words. When with horses, we feel calm and grounded. Horses invite us to slow down, regulate our emotions, and be fully present in the moment.
That relationship—built on trust, awareness, and mutual respect—is something truly special. It’s also the foundation of the work we do here.

A Personal Journey
Kirsty is also the parent of a neurodivergent teenage daughter, who has been around horses from a young age. Over recent years, they've intentionally focused on strengthening her connection with the horses, and the changes witnessed have been extraordinary.
Through her time with horses, her confidence has grown, her social skills have improved, and her participation in social settings has increased. Most importantly, her overall wellbeing and mental health have flourished. Watching the relationship between her and the horses—and how they respond to one another—has been a powerful reminder of just how transformative these connections can be.

Why Kirsty Does This Work
With a background in nursing, Kirsty has always been drawn to supporting others—particularly people who are neurodivergent, living with mental health challenges, or navigating disability. Equine-assisted support allows her to bring together her professional experience with her personal passion for horses.
At Taluna Connections, we welcome people of all ages and abilities. Whether someone is seeking support, regulation, confidence-building, or simply a meaningful experience with horses, my goal is to provide a safe, positive, and respectful environment.
Our Values
Connection
We believe meaningful connection is the foundation of growth and well-being. Through respectful, ground-based interaction with horses, we support individuals to build trust, awareness, and connection—with the horses, and with themselves.
Individualised Support
Every person’s journey is unique. Our supports are tailored to individual strengths, needs, and goals, guided by choice, dignity, and a person-centred approach
Safety & Emotional Regulation
Physical, emotional, and psychological safety underpin everything we do. Horses naturally support calm, regulation, and presence, helping participants feel safe and supported.
Inclusion & Accessibility
We provide inclusive, strengths-based support for neurodivergent individuals, people living with disabilities, and those experiencing mental health challenges.

Wellbeing & Capacity Building
Our focus is on supporting confidence, well-being, and skill development that encourages participation, independence, and positive engagement in everyday life.
Respect for Horses
The well-being of our horses is always prioritised. All interactions are guided by kindness, ethical handling, and respect for horses as partners in this work.

Sharing The Experience
Owning horses is not accessible to everyone, and we believe that shouldn’t prevent people from experiencing the benefits they offer. Through ground-based, connection-focused sessions, we're able to share our horses with others—allowing people to experience the calm, joy, and connection that horses so naturally provide.
Taluna Connections exists to honour connection: between people and horses, within ourselves, and with the moments that shape us. It is a place built on compassion, presence, and the belief that healing and growth often begin simply by slowing down and being together.
